Kaiser Colorado Tops National Quality Scores

September 26, 2014

Colorado Business Group on Health’s annual survey helps employers make better decisions when choosing health plans

Kaiser Colorado earned top scores on three measures of quality in a national ranking of health plans, according to results released by the non-profit Colorado Business Group on Health. The analysis was performed using eValue8, an annual assessment of plan accountability and quality improvement that employers use to assess America’s health plans.

Participant Aetna reported to Colorado employers for the first time in 2014. Cigna Colorado, a top past performer in Colorado, is a consistent top performer and participant.

“It’s tempting to judge health insurance on cost alone, but not all health plans are equal,” said Donna Marshall, MBA, executive director, Colorado Business Group on Health. “eValue8 measures what kind of value – or true quality – you get from your health plan. Anyone who buys health insurance should pay attention to these metrics.”

Kaiser Colorado, one of three Colorado health plans that participated in the annual survey, achieved the top marks for:

  • helping members stay healthy;
  • helping members manage chronic conditions; and
  • pharmaceutical management.

Additional details on the 2014 results and other top ranking plans can be found on National Business Group on Health’s eValue8 website. Participating NBCH member coalitions included the Colorado Business Group on Health, Healthcare 21 Business Coalition, Memphis Business Group on Health, MidAtlantic Business Group on Health, Northeast Business Group on Health, Pacific Business Group on Health and the Washington Health Alliance.
